"I was hungry and you gave me food, thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me." – Matthew 25:35
Christine's KitchenChristine’s Kitchen is a free lunch program served weekly in a to-go format. Between 150 and 250 lunches are given out to guests each Saturday. All guests are welcome, without regard to income or documentation. Guests may take additional lunches for family members. Lunches typically include a main item (such as a sandwich or a serving of lasagna), a piece of fruit, several snacks, a drink and hot soup.
Although the program is coordinated by Holy Trinity, and is located in our parish, we are grateful for the participation of many congregations and community groups in the area, who give of their time and their food. Volunteers cook, clean up, and bring all needed supplies (paper goods, etc.). Christine’s Kitchen is open Every Saturday at 12pm. Everyone is welcome to partake in a free healthy meal! Food PantryIn October of 2002, Holy Trinity started the Food Pantry in response to the growing needs we witnessed at Christine’s Kitchen. We recognized that our guests still lacked the food the other six days of the week, especially toward the end of the month, when welfare and food stamps were running low.
Our parishioners donate food, and we work with local agencies and the Community Food Bank of Hillside to provide the necessary groceries that these families require. West Orange schools, businesses, organizations, and individuals all generously help in donating food and providing financial support. The Food Pantry is open from 10:00am to 1:00pm. on the last two Tuesdays of every month . It is located in Guild Hall, with entrance through the red door on the Franklin Avenue side of the building.
